Extract a video from the cache of your Windows Web Browser

November 12, 2007

After watching a video on a web site, you may want to save the video file into your local disk for playing it offline in the future. If the video file is stored in your web browser cache, VideoCacheView can help you to extract the video file from the cache and save it for watching it in the future.

VideoCacheView extract video from windows cache

VideoCacheView automatically scans the entire cache of Internet Explorer and Mozilla-based Web browsers (including Firefox) and finds all video files that are currently stored in it. It allows you to easily copy the cached video files into another folder for playing/watching them in the future. If you have a movie player that is configured to play flv files, it also allows you to play the video directly from your web browser cache.

Streaming Rooms : multiple video streams in chat room

November 4, 2007

Streaming Room is a very strange video application:

This web 2.0 application allows to create virtual chat rooms with live video streams of your very own choice.

streaming rooms live video stream multiple ustream chat room

Concretely:

1) You create your chat room.

2) You select live video streams you want to add to your video streaming room (out of all live video streams available on Ustream.tv)

3) You can then invite friends, colleagues, partners, customers to watch video streams with you and to chat in live.

It is hard to find how this type of service can be used, but I’m sure it is possible to find interesting ideas where this web 2.0 service can bring a real added value.

Video conferencing with multiple attendees is possible with a text area. But I think profesional video conference providers are already doing far better than that…

Streaming Room could allow to follow a sportive event with different camera angles and to chat live about it with connected friends or supporters…

If you have any concrete idea, feel free to propose it within comments…

Google video marketplace: it’s over

August 14, 2007

Google Video On DemandGoogle introduces a marketplace to sell and buy videos on its platform Google Video. The idea was interesting: a site to sell its own videos or to buy real contents (no only videos of the neighbor following down…).

Google was even claming that this market was to increase, attracting interesting partners such as CBS or the NBA.

Now, Google announced it’s over…Google Video is still online, but don’t expect to sell or buy videos anymore…this marketplace is over (for now…?).

Actually, most people prefers to watch free contents, even though they have to see advertisements first…

Charlene Li, a Forrester Research analyst, think that this was a failure to focus on videos rather than on communities around videos, which make the success of YouTube….

But, the target was not the same maybe…and there is maybe not a place for a service between VOD and free web videos yet…

Now Google seems to focus on advertisement and free video contents around communities…
